Landscaping

Design, grading, drainage and planting — the landscape side of a company that has been building the hardscape for 37 years.

Colonial has been a landscaping company since 1989 and a masonry company for nearly as long, which is an unusual pairing and the reason most of the work here happens in one contract rather than three. A patio, the grade that drains it, the wall that holds the grade and the planting that finishes it are the same project. Split across a mason, a landscaper and a drainage contractor, they become three projects that each blame the other two.

The work below is the landscape half of that. On properties in this part of the Hudson Valley it starts with water and slope far more often than with plants — which is why drainage and grading has its own page here rather than being a line item under installation.
